Taphrosphys is an extinct genus of bothremydidpleurodiran turtle that was discovered Angola, Morocco[1][2] and the United States.[3] The genus consists of type species T. sulcatus (originallyPlatemys sulcatus[4]), T. ippolitoi, T. congolensis, and the dubious T. dares.[3][5]
Discovery
The holotype of Taphrosphys sulcatus was discovered in New Jersey.[3] The species Taphrosphys congolensis is known from Angola[5] while Taphrosphysippolitoi was found in the Ouled Abdoun Basin in Morocco.
