นิรุกติศาสตร์
คำว่า 'Baneswar' มาจาก คำใน ภาษาสันสกฤตที่ประกอบขึ้นจากคำว่าbānaและīshvaraในเทพปกรณัมฮินดูบานะเป็น กษัตริย์ อสูรเขาได้แบกศิวลึงค์ ไป หวังจะนำพระศิวะมายังปาฏละแต่ไม่สำเร็จ ตามตำนานเล่าว่า ปัจจุบันศิวลึงค์นั้นประดิษฐานอยู่ที่วัดบาเนศวร

ขนส่ง

วัฒนธรรม
สถานที่แห่งนี้มีชื่อเสียงในเรื่องวัดบาเนสวาร์ศิวะและเต่า (ที่รู้จักกันในท้องถิ่นว่า 'โมฮัน') ซึ่งอาศัยอยู่ใน 'ศิวะปุกุร' ใกล้กับวัด[ 6 ]
